On the last Sunday of April, like every spring for 43 years, Madrid dawned with the same illusion of the first day, but with a completely different image. The streets today miss their faithful runners more than ever. Their nerves, their desire, their smiles. Rock roll n ’roll does not sound, and silence invades the streets of a city that does not forget that today was the day. And, despite everything, feels the union of his people with more intensity than ever.

Because today many runners from all over the world are together to achieve the same goal. Today the challenge is different. And we put on a bib number again, yes, but this time to help those who need it most. Because EDP Rock ‘n’ Roll Madrid VIRTUAL RUN was born with that objective, to pay tribute to the victims and raise funds for the fight against Covid19, as well as to motivate and excite all the popular athletes who, on a day like today , they are in their homes.

The result? More than 10,000 people registered for this unprecedented virtual event that will allocate all the benefits to Cáritas Española and its fight against Covid19. Because if there is something that characterizes the runner community  its the spirit of solidarity and its tremendous passion.

The MADRID VIRTUAL RUN is organized by MAPOMA and has the support of the Community of Madrid, the Madrid City Council, EDP, Ibercaja and adidas, and all those registered can participate from their homes (from today until 3 May) running, walking, roller… Or doing the “Special Marathon” training sessions that were broadcast live today through the EDP Rock ‘n’ Roll Madrid Marathon & ½ Instagram account and the through the organization Instagram, MAPOMA, and that will be available for 24 hours. Because this time it is not about competing, but rather contributing in fight so we can run together again very soon.
