Mapoma and the Mayor of Madrid have given the the solidarity donation to Cáritas Española for the EDP Rock 'n' Roll Madrid Virtual Run

In this same act, José Luis Martínez Almeida received the “Marathon of Honor” award.

The solidarity of the runners has been more than evident these days, showing that they are united in this battle and that, when it comes to helping for a good cause, they do not hesitate to give all of them.

On April 26^th 10.134 runners from more than 50 countries around the world joined forces to contribute at the EDP Rock ‘n’ Roll Madrid Virtual Run, with objective to pay tribute to the victims and raise funds for the fight against COVID-19.

The result exceeded all expectations, raising 55.000 euros of benefits for Cáritas Española and its fight against this pandemic.

This morning, the solidarity check to Cáritas Españolahas been given at the Madrid City Council. The event was attended by the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, the director of the EDP Rock ‘n’ Roll Madrid Marathon & ½, Pedro Rumbao, the president of MAPOMA, Guillermo Jiménez, the president of Cáritas, Manolo Bretón Romero, the director of Cáritas diocesana de Madrid, Luis Hernández Vozmediano and the head of relations with companies and institutions, María Ángeles García Fernández-Reija.

The EDP Rock ‘n’ Roll Madrid Virtual Run has become the virtual race with more participation in the history of Spain. And for this, once again, we can only thank all those who have been part of it. Because you show that with passion and enthusiasm you can fight any storm.

In this same act, the Mayor of Madrid has received the “Marathon of Honor” award from the MAPOMA Sports Association. Title shared with His Majesty King Emeritus Don Juan Carlos I.

Jose Luis Martínez-Almeida has taken the moment to show his support for the runner community, greatly thanking them for their collaboration in these difficult times and encouraging all runners to continue inspiring society with their example of sports and solidarity values.
