The EDP Rock ‘n’ Roll Madrid Marathon & ½ Marathon must modify the Marathon course due to the archaeological finds in Plaza España.

The Half Marathon and 10k course don´t suffer any change.

Due to the recovery works of the archaeological finds buried under the Plaza de España and its surroundings,  EDP Rock ‘n’ Roll Madrid Marathon & ½ Marathon has been forced to modify the marathon course to avoid the area of Bailén, Ferraz and its surroundings during the duration of the works. However, the event intends to return to the original course in future editions.

EDP Rock ‘n’ Roll Madrid Marathon & ½ Marathon has worked together with local authorities and Municipal bodies of the Madrid City Council, looking for the best course alternative for the runners.

At approximately kilometer 20 , the race will turn to Moncloa, passing by the Victory Arch, and will continue through Ciudad Universitaria until it gets back into its usual route.

Pedro Rumbao, Race Director states that: “We have done everything in our power to find the best solution to a situation completely outside of our control. We know that during the works we will sacrifice an emblematic area of the course, but we also know that what makes our race special are the 42km of incredible history through the streets of Madrid and the unique atmosphere that runners enjoy. That is why, in this edition, we are going topromote an even more amazing environment by strengthening the animation and the music”.

With the support of the Madrid City Council, the event is going to increase the number of Rock ‘n’ Roll bands with more than 40 entertainment points and stages along the course to make the EDP Rock ‘n’ Roll Madrid Marathon & ½ Marathon once again one of the biggest running parties in the world.

We assure you that we will do everything on our power so runners can enjoy a unique and unforgettable experience in Madrid on April 26.
